We’re thrilled to welcome Toufik Mekbel as a new instructor! With years of industry experience as a Senior FX Artist and Art Director, Toufik has worked on a range of high-end visual effects projects across film, TV, and animation.
Toufik has spent over a decade working in high-end visual effects for animation, feature films, and series. With a strong foundation in Houdini and a creative leadership style, he has led and contributed to FX development on stylized and photoreal projects alike. He has collaborated with studios such as Jellyfish Pictures, Mikros Animation and Unit Image Studios, taking on complex FX sequences from concept to final delivery.
Toufik recently demonstrated his skills in creating magical and elemental effects in “The Tiger’s Apprentice” on Paramount+. As a Visual Effects Artist, he was crucial in designing impressive visuals that draw on Chinese mythology. His work included crafting pyro effects, energy simulations using particles, and magical transitions that contribute to the film’s fantastical look.
His portfolio also features notable projects like: Love, Death & Robots, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV and Now You See Me.
Toufik’s ability to adapt creatively and his practical experience in real-world production processes make him a valuable addition to our instructor team. Students will have the opportunity to learn directly from his techniques, project insights, and advice for producing high-quality visual effects from beginning to end.
