Can you tell us about your journey — how did you get started in architecture, 3D art, and now AI?

Back in the day, I didn’t make it into medical school to become a doctor … the goal of 90% of students were aiming for at the time. Naturally, the next prestigious choice was architecture. I became an architect and truly enjoyed the creative process, but I always felt held back by the technical limitations of the construction field.  In my early years of practice, I discovered a passion for 3D software. This led me to open my own company, Archviz, in 2011. Since then, I have focused on architectural visualization, collaborating with various design and real estate firms globally. When AI tools emerged in 2022, I began exploring Midjourney before transitioning to ComfyUI. Currently, I develop custom workflows and provide specialized courses, workshops, and training for the design industry.

How and when did you start exploring AI workflows to improve the tradional 3d archviz workflow?

Yeah, it has been and still is a wild journey! I started as an architect with my own design studio, where I began using 3D more frequently to represent my projects. Eventually, I developed a passion for the field and started my own archviz company.

As AI tools emerged, I began exploring how to elevate my 3D work further. This led to gaining significant expertise over the last three years and transitioning into a consultant role. Now, I provide courses and custom training to help professionals implement AI into their workflows using the most efficient models and tools.

What were some of the biggest challenges you faced early in your career?

It has always been from the beginning about bridging the gap between concept design and visualization … representing ideas to clients, the public, juries, or customers. That drive is what motivates me to embrace AI tools now and go deep down the rabbit hole.

Are there any standout projects or collaborations that you’re especially proud of?

Early in my career as an architect, I won two architectural competitions. As a 3D artist, I collaborated with large architecture firms, particularly in Europe. Now, as an AI consultant, I have worked with a large German company on web-based furniture listings and a US company on App workflow development using ComfyUI. Currently, I am collaborating with a multinational brand to create still images and film presentations for a major project, though I cannot share further details due to an NDA.

Have you received any awards or recognition that meant a lot to you?

What’s something AI allowed you to create that would’ve been impossible (or painfully slow) before?

Express your thoughts … even the crazy ones, like creating an image or video from your dreams. This wasn’t possible with previous tools, even for those with a high level of expertise, and now it can be done within a couple of minutes once you have mastered the workflows.

Do you think AI is more of a tool, a collaborator, or a disruptor?

I see it simply as a new tool in your toolkit. This tool is more versatile than previous ones and can handle multiple tasks at once; with the right guidance and knowledge, it could also be a collaborator.

What are some misconceptions artists have about AI today?

Two major statements are often made: ‘AI will replace us’ and ‘AI is not production-ready yet.’ In my opinion, both are currently false. AI enhances our skills and opens more paths for creativity. Personally, I am already using AI to deliver high-end archviz projects.

What advice would you give beginners, what mistakes should they avoid, and what sets artists apart in an AI-driven world?

Embrace AI tools from the start and consider a hybrid process that blends 3D modeling with AI capabilities.

Seeking out ready-made workflows instead of building them misses the point. It is not about the workflow or the prompt; it is about how you leverage them to generate your own custom, specific output.

True artists and creatives use AI tools to bridge the gap between a creative idea and technical limitations. An established artist is already creative; AI tools simply allow them to express themselves without limits, ensuring they stand out even more.

Any final advice for the Rebelway community?

Stay up to date and dive deep into open-source tools. They are flexible, allow for fine-tuning, and offer no limits. The best part? They are free.

Put your ego aside, adapt to the new tools, experiment, and work late into the night. It is as simple as that.

You should really put your ego aside and use your previous experience as leverage to direct AI tools in a creative way. Don’t worry … AI will never replace creatives.
