High impacts will completely separate the bricks, while constraints hold them together in lower impact areas, creating an aesthetically pleasing destruction shot.
The smoke uses custom masks to ensure high detail without compromising the core shape or silhouette of the dust cloud.
By masking the fastest moving parts and the outer surface of the smoke, we add detail precisely where needed, allowing aggressive detail settings without disrupting the simulation.
The initial RBD destruction setup was created by Hang Yangand smoke effects by Andrew Sutherland, all developed entirely within Houdini.
